Client: Allhallows Car Park
Location: Bedford, UK
Allhallows multi-storey car park in Bedford, which had faced demolition, has recently been given a new lease of life when Bedford Borough Council invested £8.8m in the bus station regeneration program.
The refurbishment of the car park was carried out by Makers Construction and included extensive improvements to the vehicle entrance and exit ramps on Brace Street, installation of new customer lifts, brand new public toilets, and major improvements to all of the parking levels and customer stairwells.
To ensure that visual and practical aspects were sufficiently catered for, Makers Construction opted to use the Degafloor Flake System with aluminium oxide for the main stairwell floor refurbishment. This highly decorative, yet extremely durable flooring is ideal for areas where requirements for aesthetics and longevity go hand in hand, and the addition of the aluminium oxide created excellent slip resistant properties, so that stringent health and safety requirements could be fulfilled.
As well as the main stairwell landings, all skirtings, stair treads, stringers and risers were given the Degafloor treatment, with all works having been completed under budget and on time.
Degafloor flooring systems are based on unique fast curing resin technology that enables rapid installation with minimal disruption making the range of systems ideal for fast track refurbishment and new build projects.
Each and every system is designed to provide outstanding durability, tailored slip resistance, bespoke aesthetics and lifetime value which many alternative solutions struggle to match.
