Degafloor approved installation partner, The National Flooring Company Ltd, has recently installed a Degafloor FB system with coving, including kitchen removal and re-installation, in just 21 hours.
A leading UK based casual dining group recently approached The National Flooring Company Ltd to discuss kitchen flooring options for their busy sites. As with many restaurant operators, this company was experiencing issues with their vinyl floors and wanted to find a replacement that offered better slip resistance, much better life spans and the ability to, if necessary, complete reliable repairs. It was also essential that the floor replacement works could be completed with minimal impact on the trading hours of each site.
Based on their experience in the commercial kitchen sector, National Flooring immediately recommended the Degafloor FB system, together with 100mm high floor to wall coving. The customer, having first reviewed similar installations, decided to award the first project in May 2017 on the understanding that works would take no more than 24 hours – the challenge was on!
National Flooring organised two teams that could work back-to-back shifts. The first team started work at 10pm when the site finished its food service for the day. The first task was to remove the existing kitchen equipment, followed by the failing vinyl floor. Extensive substrate preparation was then undertaken to ensure that a complete and reliable bond could be achieved. This team finished their shift at just after 8am by priming the substrate.
The second team arrived at 8.30am and started the main floor installation by first completing substrate repairs and floor to wall coving. They quickly moved on to the main floor installation which was completed by 5pm. The team then re-installed the kitchen and handed the site over in a ready to use condition at 7pm, just 21 hours after starting work.
The customer was delighted with the finish and astounded by the short time in which it was achieved.
